Jesus Cares; The Power of Caring, Weeping and Gratitude

Most people relate tears to sadness but that is not always the case. We shed tears for emotional and physical reasons.

Being Overwhelmed

Stressed

Angry

Grieving

Depressed

Physically injured

Happiness

Love

Connection with others

To protect our eyes from irritants

The word "wept" is found 68 times and in 22 books of the the Bible. The scriptures document three times when Jesus wept. ( John 11:33-35; Luke 19:41-44; Hebrews 5:7-9)

His tears are a remider to us that Jesus loves and cares for us!

"For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses,

but One who has been tempted in all things just as we are, yet without sin.

Therefore let’s approach the throne of grace with confidence,

so that we may receive mercy and find grace for help at the time of our need."

~ Hebrews 4:15-16

Throughout Jesus' life He demonstrated and taught the importantance of caring for one another.

Jesus infact gave us a commandment to care for each other.

"I am giving you a new commandment,

that you love one another;

just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

By this all people will know that you are My disciples:

if you have love for one another.”

~John 13:34-35

Many times throughout the Bible we see how the power of Jesus caring for others makes a hug impact on their lives; but what we do for others does not only impact their life for the better, it effects our lives as well. Below is an example of how others caring for me, caused a chain reaction...

I delivered groceries to a wonderful friend and her family, who are experiencing the uncertainity that life brings. The funny thing is, I left there feeling and reminded how blessed I am!

I cried tears of gratitude all the way home...blessed and grateful, that only by the grace of God, I am here and able to help others. Just 9 years ago I received help from my family and church family, Cross of Christ Church in Anthem, Arizona. They cared for me, prayed for me, supported, encouraged and watched over me as I had three major surgeries for tumors. (thanks be to God they were all benign,to the surprise of all!)

Two of my crazy friends even showed up at my door one evening with a boom box on their shoulders playing Bon Jovi and armed with treats! I was supposed to be attending this concert with my wonderful daughter, a birthday present to me. But the recent surgeries prevented me from attending. They knew how heart broken I was and they came to cheer me up, and boy did they! I will forever be grateful to them for all the support and love they showed me , for the ripple effect this created in my life and for this memory I will never forget!

As I drove home I was reminded, that at any moment, the life we are now living can change in an instant. But armed with the love and grace of God we can overcome anything!

God is our refuge and strength,

A very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

"We urge you, brothers and sisters, admonish the unruly, encourage the fainthearted,

help the weak, be patient with everyone.

See that no one repays another with evil for evil,

but always seek what is good for one another and for all people.

Rejoice always,  pray without ceasing,  in everything give thanks; f

or this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus."

1 Thessalonians 5:14-18

Our souls need Him spiritually and physically. But until His return or our return to Him, He gives us the means to be His hands and feet; to make a tangible, physical difference on earth; both physically and emotionally impacting those around us. The love and care I received from so many friends, family and my church impacted and changed my life for the better. It taught me I don't have to go through hard times alone, why walking along side others is so important, and it was the catalyst for the calling on my life.

"Therefore, encourage one another and

 build one another up,

just as you also are doing."
